Chloe Marie Higginbottom

Chloe Marie Higginbottom's artistic practice is a compelling exploration of her childhood memories, bridging her past in Rhode Island with her present life in Los Angeles. Her work captures the essence of homesickness and the anxiety of feminine coming of age, creating for the viewer a unique sense of beauty, peace, and discomfort.

Higginbottom's paintings are more than just visual representations; they are emotional landscapes. Each piece begins as a layered sketch, which she then cuts and rearranges, crafting unique, personalized worlds. This method of cutting and exposing layers is not merely a technique but a therapeutic process. Her creative process involves projecting multiple sketches onto a stretched canvas, tracing the emerging shapes, and playing with the edges and whiteness to give the illusion of an image extending beyond its physical boundaries. Higginbottom has participated in several group exhibitions at the Bolsky gallery and graduated with a BFA from Otis in 2024. She lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
